Self Analysis
The first and most important step that I followed was doing a S.W.O.T analysis on myself. You need to understand your Strengths, Weaknesses Opportunities and Threats. This exercise itself will provide some insights for you.
My deep introspection was to understand which areas are truly my strengths, where I have been an above average/exceptional performer in my past projects. Are there any of my past projects where I was given individual recognition or awards, though working in a medium/big sized team.
Which of my strengths were exhibited in those projects went above and beyond? (Technical, Functional, problem solving, execution, collaboration, Stakeholder management to name a few). Then go deeper into what helps you stand out in any specific strength. This exercise should be a few levels deep.
Planning
Planning starts with a goal – List out the top companies you aspire to get in. Plan out a daily time commitment for interview preparation. This planning is not just for your job search but also for the next level in your career. What do you want to achieve in the next 1-2 years? This will help you focus on the roles that you are applying for.
The other part of planning is to understand the interview process of each FAAMG company. Every FAAMG company has a different interview process. Amazon may have 2 phone screens before they have the full range of 4-5 onsite interviews. Google may have an initial phone screen and then a hiring manager phone screen, before bringing you onsite for full interview.
Resume
Tailor your resume to the job you are applying for – each company has their own unique job descriptions. Get feedback on your resume from your select mentors and friends. Engaging a good professional resume service is highly recommended. Update your resume regularly
Linked In
Your LinkedIn profile is your professional introduction. It should be crisp, providing key achievements in a glance and showcase the relationships you have built over time with co-workers or other professionals that could vouch for what kind of work you can do. Your LinkedIn profile should be very crisp providing your key achievements in a glance. Work on it daily for few weeks.

Specific company Interview Preparation
Take professional courses wherever available for specific companies. Research well the company you are interviewing with. Learn about their culture, values, and mission statement. This will help you align yourself with the company and make a good impression in the interview
Growing your network
The best way to grow your network is by getting involved in relevant industry groups and participating in discussions. This will help you connect with people who work in the company you want to get into and learn more about the industry.

You should start by looking through current employees in that particular industry or sector, as they may know someone else there already working professionally . You can also contact recruitment agencies if this doesn’t work out – but make sure it’s only one referral per agency so their information is accurate!
